Joseph M. Forgione is a senior fellow at New York Law School (NYLS) where he oversees the Fashion Law Initiative, a full-service legal program focused on coursework, clinical and experiential learning, externship opportunities, and hands-on exposure to new technology in fashion. In addition, as an adjunct law professor, Joseph teaches several upper-level intellectual property (IP) courses in the Innovation Center for Law & Technology at NYLS. Joseph is also legal counsel for Richemont Americas (consisting of the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Brazil, and LATAM), handling all commercial legal transactions and overseeing IP-related matters in the region for a large portfolio of luxury jewelry, watch, and fashion brands, including Alaïa, Baume & Mercier, Buccellati, Cartier, Chloé, Delvaux, IWC, Jaeger‑LeCoultre, Montblanc, Panerai, Piaget, Vacheron Constantin, Van Cleef & Arpels, and others. Joseph has over a decade of experience in private practice, where he worked on IP-related matters in the jewelry, watch, fashion, and beauty industries with many well-known brands, including Burberry, Casio, Coach, Crocs, Estée Lauder, Ferragamo, Hermès, Michael Kors, Proraso, Stuart Weitzman, Tiffany & Co., and others. He also worked on IP-related matters in the corporate legal department at Chanel for several years, and he participated in legal internships at Kate Spade, 7 Jeans, and Time Inc. (with Real Simple and Sports Illustrated magazines) while he was a law student at Cardozo Law School. His professional career in the legal field began as a law clerk in the legal department at HBO.
Joseph is a dedicated husband and father, and he currently resides with his family in New York City.
