Carmelo Fontana is a technology attorney with over 20 years of experience in the fields of intellectual property, data protection and technology transactions. In January 2011, he joined Google legal department where, as a Senior Regional Counsel he handles the Italian commercial and regulatory practice. Carmelo currently acts as the EMEA AI legal regional lead, specializing in the regulation of artificial intelligence. Carmelo is the founder and president of AIRIA, AI Regulation Association. He is a public speaker and university lecturer at the Bocconi Law School. Carmelo is qualified to practice law in California and in Italy and is a US Certified Privacy Professional. Carmelo holds a LL.M. degree in Law, Science and Technology from Stanford Law School, a J.D. summa cum laude from Luiss Guido Carli and is a Fulbright and Rotary scholar.
