Stefano Azzali is a lawyer graduated at the Genoa University - School of Law, and is the Director General of the Milan Chamber of Arbitration (CAM) since 2001.

He acted – from 2017 to 2022 - as President of the International Federation of Commercial Arbitration Institutions (IFCAI). He is also Visiting Professor of Arbitration Law at Bocconi University School of Law in Milan (since 2005) and Visiting Professor of the LLM Program in Transnational Arbitration at SciencePo University in Paris (since 2018). In 2012 and 2022 he has been Fellow at the Centre for Transnational Litigation and Commercial Law, NYU School of Law.

After being member, from 2007 until 2025, of the Federal Court of Appeal of the Italian Football Federation, he is member since 2016 of the Formula One International Contract Recognition Board.

Author of articles and publications on arbitration, he is member of the panel of arbitrators before various arbitral institutions (ICDR, VIAC, CIETAC etc.) and delegate for Italy for the Uncitral Working Group II (Arbitration and Conciliation); he acted as arbitrator in several ad hoc and institutional proceedings (ICC, ICDR, DIS, Swiss Chambers, CRCICA etc).
