Douglas Hand is one of the pre-eminent fashion lawyers in the United States has been featured and profiled in numerous media outlets and publications including the New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Vanity Fair, the American Bar Association Journal, Women’s Wear Daily and The Business of Fashion. A founding member of the law firm HBA LLP and the former General Council of the brand Rag & Bone, Douglas’ legal practice is focused on the fashion industry representing brands and designers like Tommy Hilfiger, Todd Snyder, Reed Krakoff, Buck Mason, Proenza Schouler, LANVIN, ATM, Sandy Liang, John Elliot, Adam Lippes, LaPointe and Rowing Blazers. A member of the Board of Directors of Closely Crafted, Fashion Group International (FGI) the Business Advisory Committee of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), he also advises raiseFASHION and The Fragrance Foundation.
Douglas is an adjunct professor of Fashion Law at both NYU School of Law (his JD and MBA alma mater where he sits on the Fashion & Luxury Council) and Cardozo School of Law (where he sits on the Board of the FAME Law Center). Douglas also the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) Foundation and Goodwill NY/NJ.
Douglas lives in a renovated brownstone in the menswear mecca of Harlem New York with his wife and two children.
