John Buyers

John is an information technology specialist with 30 years’ experience of large scale domestic and international transactions.  He managea the UK commercial team at international law firm Osborne Clarke and is the author of “Artificial Intelligence: The Practical Legal Issues” (now in its second edition) a book designed for lawyers in the AI/ML space.  He is the global editor of the Law Across Borders legal guide to Artificial Intelligence.

John also sits as an advisory board member of the UK APPG (All Party Parliamentary Group) on AI – a joint committee of the UK House of Commons and House of Lords, and is a member of the University of Durham’s Bias in AI Research Group.  He is a former chair of the International Technology Law Association’s Responsible AI committee, and is a regular speaker, panelist and writer on the topics of AI and ML.
