As General Counsel for Chanel, Inc., Daniel is responsible for shaping and driving Chanel’s legal strategy in the U.S. to advance and protect the brand. Apart from overseeing Chanel, Inc.’s Legal Department, Daniel’s responsibilities include providing advice and counseling to all Chanel business units on a wide spectrum of legal and business matters; negotiating, drafting and reviewing a broad array of contracts, including sales, distribution, manufacturing, IT, marketing, public relations, finance, consulting and employment agreements; addressing employment-related legal matters; conducting employee training; and handling assorted regulatory compliance matters, including data security and privacy. Daniel also serves as Chanel’s U.S. Compliance Officer and is a member of the Chanel, Inc. Operational Management Committee. Prior to joining Chanel in 1996, Daniel was an associate at Proskauer Rose in its Labor & Employment Department. Daniel is also co-chair of the ACC – NYC Chapter’s Retail Practice Group and previously served two-terms on its Board of Directors. He is admitted to practice law in New York and New Jersey. Daniel received his J.D., cum laude, from Boston University School of Law, where he was an editor of the Boston University Law Review. Daniel holds a B.A., in political science, from the University of Michigan.
